Meridian celebrates community charity fundraising efforts

Meridian partner and founder of the Any Excuse for Golf Society (AEFGS), Mark Abrol, welcomed Acorns Children’s Hospice to Meridian’s head office recently to officially share proceeds from a charity golf day hosted by the Society.

Joanne Thomas, area fundraiser, was on hand to collect a cheque for £26,526.77 from Mark which came as a result of corporate sponsorship from local businesses including Meridian, Henwood Court Financial Planning Limited, No5 Barristers’ Chambers, Morgan & Co Solicitors, Richard Arney and Probate Solicitors (PSL) along with the purchase of refreshments on the day and a charity auction.

The event, which is now in its fourth year, was held at Olton Golf Club on 25 May 2025 and was supported by golf pro, Ady Wheatcroft, 84 golfers from 21 teams, plus an army of volunteers from Meridian and fellow sponsors Henwood Court Financial Planning Limited and Probate Solicitors (PSL). The golfers also enjoyed craft whisky, gin and rum supplied by Staffordshire’s Mercia Distillery, draft beer from Mark Gregory at Silhill Brewery and a Trackman experience from Clubs Away.

Mark said, “Acorns Children’s Hospice does wonderful work in the local community. I’m thankful to all the businesses who supported us yet again this year and also to the volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure a hugely successful and enjoyable day”.
