Meridian Private Client is a law firm based in the West Midlands which specialises in advising individuals on legal and tax issues. Meridian’s growing team of almost thirty is one of the largest private client teams in the Midlands and consists of a mix of solicitors and tax specialists from an accountancy background.

This unique blend of breadth and depth of experience is what sets Meridian apart from other private client teams. Meridian’s partner led service will often bring together the expertise of a number of specialists from within the firm in one seamless service.

In the past twelve months, Meridian has brought in three new partners; Natasha Smith, Mark Abrol and Carl Csukas. Whilst the core of the firm’s business remains estate planning, the new partners demonstrate key areas of growth for Meridian.

Natasha Smith joined the firm a year ago as the second tax partner from an accountancy background and specialises in advising business owners on their tax affairs and advising on shareholder transactions. The tax team also has a distinct specialism in dealing with international tax issues, including advising individuals on residence and domicile issues.

Joining the firm in May last year, Mark Abrol heads up the contentious team of four full time private client solicitors dealing with trust and probate disputes. Common areas of dispute which the team advise upon include challenges to a Will, claims under the Inheritance Act 1975 and trust disputes.

Carl Csukas is the latest to join Meridian as a partner. Mark Abrol said “Carl’s specialism in property disputes and professional negligence litigation, together with his enthusiasm and thorough approach, is a great addition to the contentious team”.

To demonstrate how the various teams within Meridian interact, a recent case has involved two of the firm’s partners acting as executors of a deceased client’s estate, the tax team providing complex international tax advice, and members of the contentious team advising on related family disputes integral to the administration of the estate.

Jon Croxford, tax partner, commented “The way in which the firm can now provide very specialised legal and tax advice of this nature, under one roof, is unique in my experience and is proving to be of great value to our clients and contacts.

If you would like to discuss any tax or legal issues, please speak to Jon Croxford or your normal contact at Meridian on 01675 442430.
